Glad that Wyattxhim spoke about this - how could I sleep on Black Cilice! Esoteric Atavism is a fitting name for this record as it really sounds like from another time. This is detuned, maximally vicious sounding black metal striking with the sheer force of primal elements. The tormented vocals are extremely impressive and the cherry on top is how catchy the songs are, despite being so far from easy on the ears. Easily some of the best black metal of 2022. Towards Transcendence is hypnotising. David Fischer

Silhouette progressivement avalée par les ténèbres, corps dont le visage est caché par la mort... Chaque album de Black Cilice est un pas supplémentaire pour anéantir cette hypocrisie qu'est le "Moi" et sur la pochette de Transfixion of Spirits, on ne voit quasiment rien : seule la souffrance compte. Le raw black metal provient des abysses. Les pistes se rallongent encore, les riffs se répètent comme s'il nous était interdit d'avancer. Et comme dirait Elend, il y a un monde dans ces cris... Ce premier album de la formation portugaise Black Cilice (nous ne connaissons rien d'autre à son sujet que son pays d'origine) nous agresse les tympans avec un raw black metal puissant et bruitiste.
